Folk and Clubs for all you good folk: Third Tuesday every month, Grassroots & friends at the Eight Bells, Hawkhurst on the Moor (1m S of Hawkhurst centre). See website for details www.grassrootsband.co.uk As we emerge from our arctic winter it is time to look ahead to some of the delights in store over the hopefully sunny spring and summer months. Although Hastings has no folk club at present we do have a plethora of performance opportunities around the town and more than a few festivals to anticipate. In the coming months we can anticipate Jack In The Green, the annual invasion of the town by a multitude of Morris dancers, the Black Horse Festival, now moved to a new venue at Pestalozzi Village, and later in the year, the Independence Day festival on July 4th in America Ground (Robertson St.) Hastings and in September, the Sweet Sunny South Festival of American Old time country music in Fairlight. On a regular basis there are sessions in many venues around the town. The Stag (O/T) has a folk night on Tuesdays and a bluegrass night on Wednesdays each week. There is a folk band at Pissarro’s each Wednesday. Slightly further afield there are two folk clubs in Lewes, on Thursday and Saturday evening and one on Fridays at Seaford. The Beachy Headbangers will be playing there on March 26th. 'The Six Bells Folk and Blues Club meets every alternate Tuesday at the Six Bells Pub, Chiddingly, from 8 pm 'til late. Sessions are for singers and musicians to come along and do whatever they like (preferably musically!). Occasionally they have guests and other special events, at which all singers and musicians are also welcome. For further information dates and times see www.6bellsfolk.co.uk or Tel: 01825 873337.
